Cartoon Video Games

Good news everyone!!! Duck Tales, the game we all know and love, is getting a reboot!!! (I’m sure you have all heard by now…) And if you have not heard of the reboot yet, here is a trailer for it below… Duck Tales, Woo-oo!

Now with that out of the way, the reason I am writing about this is because Duck Tales made me think about all of the cartoon video games I played growing up, and there are a lot of them. Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers, Animanics, and the list goes on. Now there are some pretty bad cartoon video games too. Most of the good games had one thing in common though, and this is in my opinion alone, and that is they had the same publisher… Capcom. Capcom_logo Don’t get me wrong there are some pretty good ones that were not produced by Capcom, but let’s face it they ruled the cartoon video game world back in the day.

So what does this all mean!?!? I have a theory and hopefully it pans out the way I think that it will.

When this game is released there are going to be a lot of reviews, because of both nostalgia, and it being released on every platform so nobody will miss it. I’m hoping that this game does review very well, so that gamers will want more. Then the ball will start rolling, and we will get more reboots from Capcom. (I want you so bad Mega Man.) The reboots will probably still stem from the Disney side of things. (Ahh, no Mega Man…) So if this works out, we could possibly start to see reboots like Aladdin, Chip and Dale’s, and one that I would love to see, Darkwing Duck.

What I would like to know is what is your favorite cartoon video game? And also if you think it should get a reboot. Let me know below!!

Graphics VS Gameplay

I have recently discovered that there has been a huge divide in my friends. It has been there for a very long time, and nobody has seemed to notice. One half of my friends, love to play older games, and the other half are playing the latest and greatest from developers. The big divide is graphics vs gameplay. Now don’t get me wrong, some older games have great graphics, and some newer games have good gameplay.

Assassins Creed This was brought up while we were playing through a relatively newer game, where it was visually stunning but I felt that it could have had better gameplay. Of course he was opposite and felt like it could be the best game of that generation just because of the graphics. The game was Assassins Creed for Xbox 360. Now this game is pretty amazing, but I just felt it was too repetitive. The game is beautiful, with an open world, where you can do just about anything. But when it came to the missions or quests, it was a little lacking. You just listen to people, sneak around, and kill somebody. So after a huge feud, a few broken bones and black eyes (just kidding), we looked back at other games that we could butt heads about.

Secret of Mana For the opposite end of the debate, we came across was Secret of Mana for the SNES. While I loved this game, beginning to end, my friend couldn’t make it 30 minutes into the game because graphically it didn’t appeal to him. Now I can agree with him, because the Mode 7 made me want to throw up, but it still didn’t break the game for me.

Now these little arguments were not all that bad. They made me realize that the gaming world has expanded so much over the years. It has brought more people into the gaming community because developers make new graphics engines, so people will see the newest graphical achievements. Or because the Indie games take people back to their childhood, with their retro feel. Whatever the case may be, you can be placed into these two categories. Which are you? Gameplay or graphics?

I would love to hear your stories on the gameplay and graphics subject! Please do so below!

Gaming Reviews

Hello gamers old and new!!

I am tails4life and I have been a gamer for as long as I could remember. To specify, video games. Consoles that I started with were the NES and SNES. Through the years, I have watched the video gaming world evolve, and it’s come a long way. From console to console, graphics and music have become more colorful and diverse. With new gameplay, physics, and genres, the video gaming world is becoming vast, with endless possibilities.

I wanted to start this Gaming Reviews section with the older games and consoles from the late 80’s and work our way forward. I’m sure I will miss out on some things along the way, but I just want to point out the things that hit home with me.

If there is something that you would like included let me know! I want this blog to reach out to the community.

Also, I’m not sure that at first, I will be posting regularly because as of right now, I am taking on a lot. But this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

So my first review will be coming shortly. I have one in mind, that has been haunting my dreams for a very long time…
